When my boyfriend, Gus, who is a Managing Broker for a firm in NYC, asked his client, a young executive who was moving to New York City from California to take over a huge job, when he should reserve the elevator for his furniture delivery his reply was “Oh, I didn’t think about that.” He was so busy and preoccupied with his new position, getting on-boarded at work, saying goodbye to family and friends, that he simply “forgot” about how he was going to furnish his new apartment!
It was at that moment Furnished Solutions was born.
Gus came home to me and said, “Hey, guess what? I’ve got you a job!” After I caught my breath and stopped telling him he was crazy, he explained his idea to me and how my qualifications make for the perfect person to take on this type of project.
He went on to remind me of my incredible project management skills, the ability to see things others don’t due to my 25 years as a professional photographer, my fearless ability to be assertive when I need to, my knack for finding anything you can think of at the lowest prices possible and mainly my ability to create beautiful, comfortable places for people to happily call home.
The first thing I did was look online for any business that offers this type of done-for-you service. What I found was that there are plenty of businesses that offer interior design services or someone to assemble your furniture, but no one who would handle your interior furnishing from top to bottom, work with your personality and style, and most importantly, make it feel like home.
